Lodgings distributed to the poor in Laayoune

Originally published

Some 1,405 lodgings were distributed Tuesday to the poor and to Moroccan nationals who returned to the homeland from the camps of Tindouf (Algeria), where they were sequestered by the Polisario separatists group.

Built over 27 hectares, the housing complex cost 139 million dirhams, nearly US$13.9 million.

Forty percent of the lodgings went to Sahrawis who returned to Morocco and the remaining 60 percent went to the inhabitants of local camp and poor social layers living in Laayoune.

The move was made on the occasion of the Throne Day, marking this year the 4th anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI.
