Three attacks on American forces in Baghdad
Eye witnesses and news reports in Iraq said that an attack by mortars destroyed a diplomatic car which was stationed near the place of convening the provisional rule council which held its second meeting yesterday morning.
An American military spokesman said that the explosion took place yesterday afternoon and it was not clear immediately the reason of the explosion and no news were reported on victims.
The explosion took place at a car parking station outside the gate of the general headquarters of the Anglo- American occupation forces in the downtown of Baghdad. The US forces reinforced security measures immediately and cordoned the area.
Earlier in the day, the occupation army said that one soldier was killed and other 6 wounded in the downtown of Baghdad yesterday and an American patrol was exposed to missile attacks in al-Mansour quarters.
In a separate attack. eye witnesses said that at least one soldier was strongly wounded when a missile hit a military car which was on the road to Baghdad airport.
The US army also said yesterday that one of the Marines in southern Iraq was killed in a non hostile incident.
In the same context, the American occupation forces arrested more than 200 Iraqis and confiscated amounts of weapons in the most recent large scale campaign launched on Saturday to foil any likely resistance operations against the American soldiers. A statement by the US army said that operations resulted in its second day to arresting 226 persons and confiscating 800 mortars and RPJ shells.
In another development, two Iraqis, one is a child were killed and other 3 wounded including a woman when the occupation forces opened fire at a car carrying civilians in Baqouba city in Deyali province to the Northern East of Baghdad.
The incident took place after occupation soldiers opened fire at a car which was carrying a family on its way to a hospital yesterday at dawn and the incident resulted in killing the cousin of the children and one child and others were also wounded and the mother was hit by a bullet in her arm."
