Originally published

An official Jordanian economic source said yesterday that Jordan's exports to the USA, according to the free trade agreement signed between the two sides reached 10 million Jordanian dinars since the signing of the agreement by the end of 2001.

The source described these disappointing results for the Jordanian traders and business men despite the large American markets and the privileges offered by the agreement. The source indicated that the Jordanian private sector did not take the needed initiative to make use of this agreement to penetrate into the largest consumer market in the world.

Jordanian trade sources said yesterday that several Iraqi businessmen finalized trade deals with Jordanian traders to export electric equipment from Jordan to Iraq at a cost of 15 million Jordanian Dinar every month.
