Muslim-Christian cooperation to rectify misconcepts about women's role

Originally published

The Christian-Muslim conference on promoting women's citizenship in Alexandria stressed cooperation of Muslim and Christian clerics to set right misconcepts about women's role, urging development of the official religious discourse in order to boost women's citizenship right.

Concluding the event which was organised by the Coptic Evangelical Board in tandem with the wakfs (Religious Endowments) Ministry, in which 130 Christian and Muslim clerics as well as professors and public dignitaries took part, the conference stressed development of education syllabi that would help promote citizenship rights and provide a sound vision on the true roles for both men and women.

They also underlined that women, who should not be an idle energy, must acquire new experiences and be given the chance to innovate in all walks of life.
