UN: the Lebanese army is deployed in South Lebanon
A spokesman for the UN in South Lebanon said yesterday that the Lebanese army was actually deployed in the area formerly occupied by Israel.
The spokesman for UNIFIL in south Lebanon Timor Goksil said that the Hizbullah party had helped during the past months to establish peace and calm in the south.
However, Goksil's assertion is in contradiction with statements with US officials in which they called for the deployment in the South in order to end the armed presence of Hizbullah in that area.
Meantime, the assistant secretary for the Hizbullah party Sheikh Naem Qasem said that the party rejects the American demands and will not accept any instructions by the US at the time when Israeli warplanes are violating the Lebanese airspace repeatedly.
