Sahraoui NGOs in Geneva to denounce dreadful conditions in Tindouf camps
A group of NGOs defending human rights respect in the Moroccan Sahara will conduct in Geneva an information and awareness campaign on the dreadful conditions of Sahraoui populations sequestrated in Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria).
The group comprises more than ten NGOs that will inform the international public opinion, human rights organizations, governmental delegations participating in the ongoing human rights commission's meeting and the world media on the deteriorating humanitarian conditions of Moroccan POWs and the violation of the most basic human rights of Sahraoui populations in Tindouf camps.
The group members, most of whom have risked their life to flee the sequestration camps controlled by the Polisario (Algeria-backed secessionist group), will make testimonies about the violations they witnessed themselves when they lived in the camps. These people still carry scars resulting from the torture and suffering they incurred.
The NGOs will hold a rally this Friday to convey through the world media appeals to the Algerian president, to the Human rights chairmanship, to the UN secretary general, and other eminent international organizations to intensify efforts to end the plight of Sahraoui populations and to immediately free the remaining 1,160 Moroccan POWs detained by the separatist group.
The Group will also hold conferences and debates to condemn the several disappearances in the Polisario jails.
