Morocco's King Mohammed VI has decided to open a bank account to receive donations by Moroccans who want to show their solidarity with Iraq, a statement of the Royal Palace released yesterday announced.

Official spokesman of the Royal Palace, Hassan Aourid, read out this Friday a release where he recalled that "H.M. King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, had expressed the Moroccan people's concern over the unrelenting developments in the Arab Gulf Region, and particularly the sufferings of the brotherly people of Iraq."

The communique announced the opening of an account at Bank Al-Maghrib (636) to receive voluntary donations by citizens wishing to participate in the lofty humanitarian endeavor of assisting the Iraqi people.

"The Moroccan people has always been a model of solidarity and assistance. All along history, they have given examples of generosity and action in favor of national and Arab-Islamic causes to alleviate the sufferings of peoples, wherever they are," the Royal palace says.
