The European Union's High Representative for the common foreign and security policy, Javier Solana praised on Tuesday the "good relations" tying the European Union and Morocco.

Solana made this statement after a meeting he had with Morocco's Foreign Affairs and Cooperation delegate minister, Taieb Fassi Fihri, part of the third association council tying the two parties.

During this encounter, Solana said the EU supports all efforts aiming to intensify inter-Maghreb relations and to consolidate "a united Maghreb."

The meeting further allowed both sides to examine topics related to the Iraqi and Palestinian issues, along with the upcoming Arab summit.

The European Commissioner for external relations, Chris Patten on Monday said that the creation of sub-committees by Morocco and the European Union translates "the maturity" of dialogue between the two parties.

The sub-committees are related to the internal market, industry, commerce and services, transport, environment and energy, research and innovation, agriculture and fisheries and justice and security.
