Jordan agrees to establish two camps for the Iraqi refugees
A Jordanian diplomatic source said that Jordan has agreed to establish two camps on its territories to receive unlimited number of refugees in case of an American attack against Iraq.
The source has announced that Jordan finalized an agreement with the UN to establish two camps near the borders with Iraq despite its firm position which rejects any flow of refugees to its lands.
The source added that these two camps will shelter "under strong security control, thousands of Iraqis" who will get the aids of the UNHCR. The source continued that the recent Jordanian "concession" came at the persistence of the UN which underlined the importance of Jordan's approval to receive Iraqi refugees in order "to preserve its international relations and honor international agreements it had signed."
As for refugees from other countries, the same source announced that Jordan has finalized an agreement with the international migration organization which has Geneva as a headquarters to transfer them under the protection of the police to the airports or to the only Jordanian port in al-Aqaba on the Red Sea.
