Originally published

A visiting parliamentary delegation from Cote D'Ivoire, led by vice-speaker of the national assembly, Siki Blon Blaise, held on Monday work sessions with several Moroccan officials to brief them on the situation in their country.

In a meeting with speaker of the House of Representatives (lower chamber of parliament), Abdelouahed Radi, the head of delegation praised Morocco's support to legality in Cote D'Ivoire. Radi, who recalled the friendship ties between the two African countries, said Morocco will spare no effort to help Cote D'Ivoire overcome the present difficult juncture.

Morocco, he stressed, supports the legality, unity and sovereignty of Cote D'Ivoire and the safety of its territories and regrets the "serious crisis" experienced by a great and strong country. He also called for dialogue, negotiations and for activating the role of constitutional institutions to settle problems.

The parliamentary delegation also met vice-speaker of the chamber of advisors (upper chamber), Mohamed Fadili, with whom they exchanged views on the role of friend countries in consolidating national legitimacy in the West-African country and preserving its unity and stability. The Moroccan official assured them of Morocco's support to Cote d'Ivoire until the crisis is resolved in order to avert the tension extension to the whole region.

The parliamentary delegation is visiting Morocco as part of a trip in several countries to explain conditions of the internal crisis shaking their country since last September. Other parliamentary delegations will be traveling on similar missions to Libya, France, Belgium.
