Arab body recommends joint Arab action in agricultural realm

Originally published

The executive council of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) adopted in Rabat on Tuesday recommendations aiming to consolidate Arab joint action in the agricultural realm.

These recommendations are geared, among others, to upgrade AOAD's technical, financial and administrative management and enhance its ability to carry on development endeavours in favor of Arab states' agricultural sector.

Recommendations also stipulate to forward files related to lasting agricultural development and food security to the Arab League's economic and social council, before being examined by the coming Arab summit, scheduled in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The council also adopted the regional program to fight against animal diseases, which will be implemented by AOAD and several international organizations and institutions.

The 23rd session of AOAD executive council is scheduled next September in Syria. AOAD, an offshoot of the Arab League, was set up in 1971.
