Al-Shara discusses with Djerjian developments in region and Iraq
The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara yesterday received ambassador Edward Djirjian, the director of James Baker Institute for the public policy in Washington, who was the US former ambassador in Damascus.
Talks dealt with latest developments in the region and the importance of converting it into an area free from all mass destruction weapons. Discussions also dealt with the position of the US administration concerning the Iraqi issue and the need to spare Iraq war, and to concentrate instead of that on peaceful solutions especially as Iraq has been positively and effectively cooperated with the UN inspectors in the context of implementing UN resolution 1441.
