Minister of Industry and Technological Development Ali Al Saeedi said that the Ministry will undertake implementation of several parallel programs during the new year 2003 to modernize the Egyptian industry and expand a vocational training to upgrade workers' efficiency.

In statements Friday, Saeedi pointed to a continuous growth in the national industry and the number of industrial facilities that entered the field of production, numbering nearly 745 facilities in the governorates and new cities with a value of L.E. 11 billion.

He added the under-reconstruction projects hit 1,259, expected to provide about 34,000 job opportunities with total wages of L.E. 161 million.

Total new jobs available in the industrial sector hit 33,500 with annual wages of L.E. 240 million, he said, noting that the government is attaching a special importance to the Small and Medium-Seized Enterprises (SMEs), which are capable of creating more job opportunities.
