Sharon praises Putin over fighting Islamic terrorism

The Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon has invited the Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Israel. He praised Putin's position concerning what he called "the extremist Islamic terrorism" and the "friendship he ( Putin ) shows towards the Israeli people." This was expressed in a telephone call Sharon made with the Russian President on the occasion of the new year.

Sharon also expressed hope of strengthening relations between Moscow and Tel Aviv in various fields.
