Al-Watan: Saudi Arabia, the US are about to settle princess issue

Originally published

The Kuwaiti daily al-Watan said yesterday according to diplomatic sources that Riyadh and Washington are about to eliminate the "crisis of princess Haifa" through reaching a political agreement that will clearly specify steps to which the two sides are committed.

The paper added yesterday that the bilateral meeting between prince Bander Bin Sultan, the Saudi ambassador in Washington, and the advisor for the US National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice last week was dedicated to discuss the broad lines for this agreement.

The paper added, according to these sources, that the American side concentrates on the importance of Saudi Arabia's announcement of a clear position concerning the war Washington will carry against Iraq, and America's use of Sultan's air force during its military campaign, noting that Saudi Arabia has shown its readiness to carry out what is wanted from it, but according to an accepted scenario.
