Thirty-two bodies of candidates to illegal emigration washed up in morocco's southern Atlantic shores

Originally published

The bodies of 32 people who were trying to illegally emigrate were washed up by the sea over the weekend in southern Morocco.

The bodies, fished out near the southern city of Laayoune, were taken to the city's hospital.

The city of Laayoune has become a new starting point for candidates to illegal emigration, who traditionally chose to depart from Morocco's northern shores to reach Spain.

An investigation is under way to shed light on the incident and determine the identity and nationality of the victims and of the trip organizers.
