Israel criticizes the European Union
The Israeli government has strongly criticized the European Union member states and accused the European states of not making enough efforts to urge the Palestinian to halt the operations and the resistance acts against the Israeli occupation.
The Hebrew language Israeli radio said that the Israeli foreign ministry issued a statement in which it accused the representative of the EU to the region Alestar Cook of not exerting what Israel called any serious efforts in order to control the Palestinian resistance, claiming that Cook exerted intensive efforts in order to maintain the unity of the Palestinians as he sought to hold meetings between the representatives for the Palestinian authority and others for the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and the Islamic Jihad and that his efforts resulted in convening meetings in Cairo between the two sides.
However, the radio quoted sources at the Israeli foreign ministry saying that the position of the European states to this effect resulted in the escalation of the operations against Israel both in Israel and the 1967 territories.
