Saddam Hussein calls the parliament for an emergency session
Baghdad announced that "it calmly studies" the UN Security Council resolution 1441 which was described by an Iraqi source as "bad and repressive," while no official comment or reaction was made on the said UN resolution, except the call made by the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on the National Council ( the parliament) for a special session to study the decision without setting a date for such a session.
The Iraqi source said that "the necessary signal to this effect will be issued within the coming days." The source added that the resolution was bad and repressive, and the Iraqi leadership studies it calmly."
Yesterday, Hussein called on the Iraqi National Council to convene an urgent session to discuss the recent resolution issued by the UN Security Council and to take "a position concerning it and then submit this decision to the revolution's leadership council." The grace period given by the UN resolution for Baghdad to answer is November 15.
