UK Dailies: plans to invade Iraq
The British daily Sunday Telegraph reported yesterday that Britain is preparing to build up an armored force of 15,000 soldiers during this week in order to be a land fighting force which will be sent to Iraq if diplomatic efforts fail to dismantle its weapons.
The paper added that this force will be gathered from the 7th armored contingent known as the "Mouse of the desert" and thousands of the special forces known as "SAS" as well as war submarines and warships and planes, noting that these forces will be asked to draw necessary plans to move towards the Gulf especially Kuwait.
Meantime, the British daily "Sunday Times" said that the vanguards of the British fighting forces will arrive in Kuwait by the end of the current month to take part in the invasion of Iraq if the Iraqi regime will fail to cooperate with the UN weapons inspectors.
For its part, the British daily "the Observer" stressed that the US president has accelerated the pace of planning for a pan attack against Iraq amid fears of the White House that the Iraqi President will challenge the recent resolution of the UN Security Council.
The paper explained that the American plans include re-deployment of four military contingents numbering 200,000 troopers.
