Originally published

After meeting with Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi yesterday in Tripoli, the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika said he feels the "same regret Qathafi has towards the Arab League." He added "stemmed from Libya's decision to pull out from the Arab League, I have come to have consultations altogether. If quitting the AL is the solution, we will all quit." He stressed that his country will be an "ally for Libya in its stances and the measures it takes."

In a press statement issued in conclusion of the visit of the Algerian President to Tripoli, the two leaders stressed their identical view points "concerning the objective criticism Libya addressed to the Arab League due to its passive role towards the events taking place against the Arab nation."

The statement added that the Algerian President expressed " strong regret " over Libya's request to quit the Arab League considering it ( Libya ) as "one of the basic pillars for the Arab future and security" and that Libya's pullout from the AL under this grave condition the Arab nation is passing in particular and the world, in general constitutes "a threat to the future and own existence of this nation."
