Al-Anba: Mashakos negotiations discuss security arrangements

Originally published

The Sudanese official daily al-Anba said yesterday that Khartoum provided a mission representing the African federation evidence that proves the involvement of Eritrea in battles in East Sudan at a time when, following a short holiday, the Sudanese peace negotiations were resumed by convening a workshop on the security and military arrangements. This is, however, the first time such an item is brought for discussion since the beginning of the negotiations in the Kenyan city of Mashakos.

Military men from the Sudanese armed forces and from the rebels in Mashakos started a workshop on the military and security arrangements, in which taking part are military experts including British and Kenyans.

A source close to the negotiations said that despite the atmospheres of tension resulted from the controversy on implementing the truce agreement, however, the negotiations continued its process according to the set program. A fact which reveals an undeclared agreement on ignoring the effects of the development of events outside the hall of negotiations on these negotiations course.
