Tommy Francs in Jordan

Originally published

The US army chief of staff Gen. Tommy Francs arrived in Amman on Tuesday in order to hold talks with high ranking Jordanian officials said to be centered on emergency plans in preparation to a likely American military campaign against Iraq.

Meantime, it was officially announced in Amman that Francs will attend a military exhibition opened two days earlier by the Jordanian King Abdullah. A Jordanian official said "It is clear that Iraq preoccupied the thinking of all."

Worthy mentioning that the New York Times said in a report which was not denied by the US Department of State that Francs is nominated to assume a military government leadership post in Iraq after toppling the Iraqi regime.

At the meantime, military exercises are taking place in Jordan, attended by American, Jordanian and Gulf forces in an undeclared location in the southern part of Jordan.
