Moroccan Abedlghani Mzoudi to be tried friday
Abdelghani Mzoudi, a Moroccan who was arrested Thursday in Hamburg on suspicion of having provided logistical support to the cell of the 9/11 hijackers, will be tried Friday, German legal sources said.
Abdelghani Mzoudi, 29, was arrested following a witness statement that he had been trained in Afghanistan in Summer 2000. The witness said he made the trip to Afghanistan together with two Moroccans: Zakaria Essebar and Mounir El Moutassadeq who was found guilty of murder following the 9/11 attacks.
The prosecutor says Mzoudi had close contacts with members of the Hamburg cell that supervised and directed the attacks.
He is accused of bringing logistical support to the commando members by making Money available to Essebar to finance his planned flight training in the US and finding a room for Al-Shehhi's, one of the commando members, in a student residence for his final weeks in Germany before he left for the United States.
Mzoudi, who is accused of supporting a terrorist organization, has been under investigation since Oct.25 last year, prosecutors said.
