Khartoum denies opposition's control of two sites near Kasla

Originally published

The Sudanese government has denied what was announced by the Sudanese opposition earlier on Thursday that it had controlled two military sites to the eastern part of the country.

The spokesman for the Sudanese army, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Bashir Suleiman, said there are "mere allegations through which the rebels movement wants to hide its setbacks, internal weakness and problems." The office of the united military leadership of the Sudanese opposition led by John Garang announced that its forces were able on Thursday morning to control the two military sites of Hamish Kareeb and Sholoub, situated near the city of Kasla.
