Originally published

The Turkish daily Joumoreyat noted on Wednesday to the meeting to be held by Iraqi opposition representatives which is considered the first of its kind in Nafshheir in Turkey in the central part of Anadolia on Friday. It is organized by the Iraqi research and studies institute, whose headquarters is in Ankara.

The paper added that the meeting, which will be held at the consent of the Turkish foreign ministry which had reservations on the meetings of the opposition parties which were held recently in the UK and the US, will discuss the future of Iraq and conditions of minorities and the American policy in the region, and the possibility of establishing a federation and the new composition of Iraq.

The meeting will be attended by representatives for the Kurdisani Democratic Federation party and the Democratic Kurdistani party only at the inaugural session.

The paper indicated that Turkey has started to practice more active policies in Iraq, noting Turkey does not want to stay just as an observer in the activities aimed at restructuring Iraq if the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is toppled.
