Yet another meaningless resolution from the United Nations that is not enforceable or honored by Israel

Originally published

Adding to the long list of resolutions against Israel that are not honored or enforced, the UN Security Council on Tuesday repeated the need that Israel should honor the "International Humanitarian Law," including the 4th Geneva Agreement of 1949 on protection of civilians during times of war. The Council also noted the continued importance of the Arab peace initiative which was ratified by the Beirut's summit.

This was expressed in a decision proposed by Syria in the name of the Arab states and adopted by the UN Security Council on Tuesday following intensive and long deliberations started on Monday morning following amendments approved by the Arab group.

The council called for the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Palestinian cities and to halt measures taken in Ramullah including halting the destruction of the Palestinian infrastructure. The Resolution was voted " yes " by 14 members and the US abstained from voting, while Israel described the resolutions as unbalanced and expressed its regret for the US not using the Veto against the said resolution.

Israel's representative at the UN Ehuda Lankray said that this resolution is disappointing, while the Israeli defense minister Benyamin Ben Eliezer said that Israel will continue imposing the siege on the headquarters of the Palestinian authority in Ramullah.
