Originally published

Bilateral trade between Morocco and Nigeria amounted to about 300 million dollars in the past three years, Nigeria's ambassador in Rabat, Alhaji Ladan Shuni, was quoted by Nigeria's news agency NAN as saying.

Shuni told the NAN imports into Nigeria from Morocco were mainly Titus sardine, fertilizer, frozen fish and pharmaceuticals, while Morocco imports cotton, ginger, groundnut, wood, gum, Arabic garlic and other commodities from Nigeria.

The ambassador said that plans were for Moroccan operators to establish three companies in Nigeria.

According to the envoy, the Moroccan and Nigerian chapters of the Morocco-Nigeria Joint Commission have been established and are now fully efficient and functional.

"The Moroccan chapter has sent a delegation to Nigeria and the bilateral agreements reached are heart-warming," Shuni, added.

He said all efforts would continue to further strengthen the existing cordial relationship between Morocco and Nigeria, because "the two countries have a lot to benefit from each other."
