Washington denies a meeting between Bush, Shaath

A Palestinian spokesman announced in Gaza that the US President George Bush met in New York the Palestinian minister of planning Nabil Shaath in the first meeting by the American President with a Palestinian official at that level.

But the White House denied that. White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said concerning the statements of the Palestinian officials "according to my knowledge this is not true."
