Switzerland proposes promoting cease- fire in Nouba mountains
Switzerland proposed to the Sudanese government and the southern rebels to develop the cease fire agreement between the two sides in al-Nouba mountain, to the southern center of Sudan, into a comprehensive peace.
Well-informed sources in the Sudanese government said that the Swiss ambassador Joseph Boucher proposed to both sides to develop the cease fire agreement into a comprehensive peace in the region.
Boucher had headed negotiations that took place in January this year in Switzerland between the government and the rebels under the auspices of the USA, and ended in a cease- fire agreement in al-Nouba mountains for a period of 6 months to be renewed, starting January 19 and renewed for other 6 months in June this year. The cease fire stood in the area for the last six months. No violations were reported between the two sides.
