Othman meets al-Assad about Sudan's conditions

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday in Damascus received the Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael.

The meeting was attended by the deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Sudanese ambassador in Damascus.

Ismael conveyed a message to President Bashar al-Assad from the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir including an explanation to the position of the Sudanese leadership concerning the suspension of the agreement finalized between the Sudanese government and the rebels in Southern Sudan.

Discussions, during the meeting dealt with results of the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers which was held recently in Cairo and the importance of continued coordination and consultation among the Arab states in these critical conditions. Discussions also dealt with bilateral relations and means of strengthening and consolidating them.
