Israel to close its embassy in New Zealand

The Israeli foreign ministry announced its determination to close off the Israeli embassy in New Zealand as from next week.

The Hebrew - language Israeli radio said that financial reasons prevent the continued opening of the said embassy.

The radio said that the Israeli embassy in Australia will supervise the affairs of the Israelis that are in New Zealand and those Israelis were informed about this matter.

The radio indicated that that the Israeli embassy in New Zealand is in charge of supervising the Israeli relations with other seven states in the area.

Worthy mentioning that Israel closed several embassies and consulates in various parts of the world because of the sharp economic crisis that hit the Israeli economy.
