The 33rd anniversary of al-Aqsa burning

Originally published

On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of burning the al-Aqsa mosque, the Palestinian Authority on Wednesday called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility to implement the UN resolutions.

In a statement, the Palestinian Authority called on the international community to end the Israeli occupation and enable the Palestinians to restore their independence, freedom and ability to practice their religious rituals, being Muslims or Christians, away from the Israeli occupation and its checkpoints and the Israeli daily practices in repressing the people, Christian or Muslims, who perform their rituals in the churches and mosques in Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

The Palestinian Authority indicated that the protection of the Islamic and Christian shrines is an Arab, Islamic and international responsibility.

An Israeli extremist on August 22nd, 33 years ago set fire inside the Aqsa mosque and this resulted in burning large parts of the mosque's walls.
