Al-Ayam: Al-Meirghani voices support to President al-Bashir for national unanimity

The chairman of the Sudanese national opposition coalition Muhammad Othman al-Meirghani who is also the chairman of the democratic federal party vowed to be a supporter for the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir in unifying the national consensus. He expressed desire to meet with President al- Bashir or his first deputy Ali Othman Muhammad Taha at any time or place.

In statements published by the Sudanese daily al-Ayam ( the days), al-Meirghani stressed he was a partner in the recent Machakos negotiations through continued and open negotiations between him and Col. John Garang, the chairman of the people's movement.

Al-Meir Ghani extended a message to President al-Bashir asking him to work for achieving the unity of Sudan. Al-Meirghani said "I will be a supporter to President al-Bashir if he has the intention to maintain the unity of the country with the participation of all sides, in consolidation to any agreement towards a national consensus."
