Draft resolution demands Israeli cooperation
The Arab states are preparing a draft resolution to the Security Council to force Israel to allow a United Nations Fact-Finding mission into Jenin refugee camp, where Israeli occupation forces massacred Palestinian civilians.
Ahmed Abul Gheit, Egypt's envoy at the UN, said the draft resolution would threaten Israel with the chapter VII of the UN charter that allows the Security Council to impose sanctions and even military action against countries threatening the world peace and security.
Abul Gheit and the Tunisian envoy at the Security Council on Tuesday night met with the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Israel's refusal to receive-the fact-finding mission, which is approved by the Council.
The two Arab envoys also met with the Russian envoy, currently the Council's President, on the draft resolutions, which also demand an immediate halt of Israeli military campaign on the Palestinian self-rule areas that started on March 29.
