Korea Electric Power Data Network (KDN) has been awarded a contract worth 1.5 billion won (US$1.13 million) to build computer systems in a Libyan university, from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), reported the Korean news agency Yonhap.

The project, part of the KOICA's international cooperative program, calls for the supplying and installing of 1.5 billion won worth of computer and related facilities and educational management systems in the science college of the Alfate University of Libya.

Education for managers and operators for the system will also be provided, KDN, a system integration affiliate of the Korea Electric Power Corp., said.

An Internet Business Team chief of KDN said that it completed a computer center project in Vietnam by joining hands with KOICA last year, and has now spearheaded such IT cooperative business in other countries.

KOICA, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is engaged in grant aid and technical cooperation projects, mostly in less developed countries.
