Maghreb union to set network for detection of contagious animal diseases
Veterinary experts of the Maghreb Union (UMA) agreed to intensify direct contacts between veterinary services, for a better border control to face up any potential animal endemic disease.
This measure, to pave the way for a Maghreban Network for Detection of Contagious Animal Diseases in the region, was taken at the Maghreban Veterinary Committee's first meeting held last week in Rabat.
The Maghreban Veterinary Committee voiced satisfaction over results of last year's collective measures by the five countries against the spread of the Foot and Mouth disease, the mad cow disease, and the Dioxin pandemic, as they succeeded in keeping the Maghreb region free of these conditions.
