Originally published

The Secretary general of the Arab League Amre Mousa has called on the European states to take a firm and decisive stand concerning the brutal aggressions carried out against the Palestinian people. A role stems from the role played by Europe as a regional power which has interests and historical relations with the Arab states. He also called on the European states to protect these interests and preserve them.

In a joint press conference he held on Wednesday with the Greek foreign minister George Papandreau, Mousa stressed the need that the US has to reconsider its stances bias to Israel and its flagrant aggression against the Palestinian people, as well as to play its due role as a main- cosponsor for the Middle East peace process. Mousa warned against the continued US bias to Israel, noting that will be conducive to further deteriorated conditions in the region.

On the other hand, the Greek foreign minister called on the international community especially the US, the European Union, Russia and the UN to interfere rapidly and effectively in order to ease down the very grave conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories. He expressed his country's deep concern towards what is taking place. He added that this concern is part of the general European concern.
