Saudi crown prince: the initiative is a test for Israel

Originally published

The Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz has stressed that he wants to test Israel's intention to establish peace, in his initiative to establish peace in the Middle East.

The Saudi official news agency on Sunday quoted crown prince Abdullah as saying "I will debate this initiative during the Beirut summit to be adopted by the Arab states, by their turn." He added If the Israelis accept it, this will be what we want. We do not want fighting and we are not thirsty for blood. We want to live in peace, safety and security."

Upon his meeting with participants in the seminar of "dialogue among civilizations in al-Riyadh," the Saudi crown prince added:" If they ( the Israelis ) did not accept it ( his initiative ) we will make the whole world know that the Arabs and Muslims are the one who want peace and that some of the Israelis, and I do not say all of them, do not want peace."

The Saudi crown prince added that by declaring this initiative in the mid of February was an attempt to take out the Israeli- Palestinian conflicts from the deadlock it had reached. He continued "I thought to propose this initiative in the service of Islam because the first thing these say that Muslims and the Arabs do not want peace at all."

He indicated: " I found that all the people support the initiative except one person who is the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, who does not want this initiative.

The Saudi crown prince abstained from disclosing details of his initiative saying: "the details are not my right because I will say them in the Arab summit and hopefully my Arab brothers will agree on it."
