Euro-Mediterranean Partnership responsible for Political and Security Issues will meet on 4 April
Senior Officials of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership responsible for Political and Security Issues will meet on 4 April in Brussels and the Euro-Mediterranean Committee for the Barcelona Process will meet on 5 April in the same city.
Both meetings will focus on preparations for the Euro-Mediterranean Foreign Ministers' Conference to be held on 22 and 23 April in Valencia, Spain. An Action Plan will be discussed which it is hoped will be adopted at the Conference.
The main themes to be addressed range from strengthening political dialogue to regional co-operation and South-South trade and integration through the new financial facility for the Mediterranean region. Pursuing the dialogue of cultures and civilisations will also be discussed (see below), notably the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Foundation in this area.
A Euro-Mediterranean Ad Hoc Meeting on Terrorism will be held at senior officials and experts' level on 27 March in Brussels. Discussions will focus on co-operation in the fight against terrorism. Senior officials and experts will in particular discuss the implementation of international conventions against terrorism, and of UN Security Council Resolution No 1373, notably as regards the prevention of the financing of terrorism.
