On the US plan to strike Iraq
The Jordanian paper al-Arab al-Youm on Tuesday issued details of the American plan, carried by the US vice president Dick Cheney to the Arab states he recently visited. The plan invites the Arab states to provide enough aid, or at least not oppose the American operations against Iraq.
The plan states that the operations against Iraq will aim at toppling the rule of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and finding a democratic alternative to him in Iraq.
The plan noted that the US administration will honor the Arab view point in not wanting the partitioning the Iraqi territories and to preserve Iraqi territorial integrity.
The plan continued that toppling Saddam will take into account minimizing human losses and that the American administration will not prescribe a substitute for Saddam not accepted by the Iraqi people.
Cheney proposed to the Arab states, his country's readiness to ensure a Palestinian- Israeli peace or an Arab- Israeli peace through giving support to the initiative proposed by the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and establishing a Palestinian state for getting the support of the Arab states to the American campaign against Iraq.
Cheney also showed the preparedness of the US to support the economies of these countries and to establish a free trade areas between the US and Arab sides for actual Arab military participation in supporting the American objectives in the region and in taking part in deterring the "terrorist groups."
