Reservation rates in Egypt's various tourist resorts show that Egypt as a tourist destination is in higher demand, said Minister of Tourism Mamdouh El-Beltagui.

At a press conference on the sidelines of the Berlin Tourism Bourse Sunday, he said that countries that have taken actions to confront the repercussions of the September 11 attacks are the countries to witness an influx of tourists very soon.

Egypt, on its part, has launched a campaign designed to surmount the negative impacts of September 11 events, to confront the confusion between Islam and terrorism and also the changes in travel trends and preferences, he said.

It has also, introduced new competitive prices, he added.

After September 11, tourists started to choose their vacation destinations differently, preferring those they could reach by land, he said.

More and more people are choosing shorter vacations and better rates, but tourism in Europe was not affected by September 11 as the US, the Middle East and Far East, he added.
