Arab intellectuals address Arab leaders before Beirut March 27 summit
A statement by a group of Arab intellectuals demanded the coming Arab summit to take the political decision and to start implementing necessary mechanism for inter- Arab progress.
They indicated that Israel allots a sum exceeds USD 4 billion annually in order to develop scientific researches. A sum which exceeds what the Arab states, collectively spend in this realm.
The signatories added that the Arab peoples, first and basically call for investing Arab assets that exist abroad, estimated at USD one trillion in Arab agricultural, industrial and technological to revitalize inter- Arab trade and take tangible steps towards founding the common Arab market. They questioned that it is not logic , nor rightful that the Arab nation is floating on a sea of wealth, while most of its people are drowned in poverty and illiteracy.
Addressing the Arab leaders, the signatories said :” as your summit will be held in Beirut it might be useful to remind you on the need to implement the backing decisions adopted by previous Arab summits and meetings for serving this country where its national resistance achieved a real defeat to Israel, especially while those people are exposed to large and serious American and Israeli pressures at the meantime.”
