Syrian intellectuals call on Europe to shoulder its responsibilities
Some 60 Syrian intellectuals and writers have called on Europe to shoulder its responsibility towards the Palestinian people and to make greater efforts to halt "the war of extermination against the Palestinians."
In a patent circulated on Monday, the Syrian intellectuals said that "the Israeli democracy practiced since its birth and is still practicing a dirty racist extermination war against the Palestinian people and that this war has been some times made on a calm fire or behind deceiving scenes claiming civilizations."
The patent added that "since Europe shoulders the greater part of the historical and moral responsibility of what is now taking place in Palestine, we, the undersigned, urge it, more than any time ago to maintain real and brave efforts to get the Palestinians out of this crisis." It added " it is time for Europe to shoulder its responsibility.. it is time that extermination of the Palestinian people will be halted." Among the signatories of the patent are writers, journalists, actors, historians and economists."
