Australia supports the American move to topple Saddam Hussein
The Australian foreign minister Alexander Downer has announced that his country will support any American moves to topple the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in case diplomatic means will fail to achieve this objective.
In an interview with the Australian " Nine " TV station Downer said that Australia wants Saddam Hussein to be toppled and to be replaced by a more logical and democratic government. Nevertheless, the Australian foreign minister considered that it is pre-mature to direct a military strike against Iraq at the meantime.
He added that directing a military strike against Iraq in an inappropriate timing will contribute to raising a huge diplomatic problems with countries neighboring Iraq in the Middle East region.
Earlier, the Australian prime minister announced that his country's participation in the military campaign led by the US against Afghanistan does not necessarily mean Australia is committed to taking part in similar campaigns at other fronts.
