One Israeli settler killed, clashes continue between Israelis, Palestinians

Originally published

A source close from the Israeli settlers said that one Israeli settler was killed by a Palestinian on Friday to the north of Jerusalem in the West Bank. The incident took place on a road close to Anarout airport to the north of Jerusalem when the settler was hit by the Palestinian bullets when he was riding his care. The identity of the killed settler was not disclosed.

On the other hand, medical sources indicated that Israeli soldiers opened fire at an Israeli settler in the West Bank mistakenly, thinking that he is a Palestinian activist and this resulted in strong wounds. The incident took place near Lami Tsour settlement to the north of Hebron when the soldiers opened fire at a settler and hit him in his head. The wounded settler was taken to Hadasa Ein Karem hospital in Jerusalem.

Meantime, one Palestinian was killed in a suicide operation in a Jewish settlement in the West Bank on the eve of a Palestinian- Israeli security meeting that seeks to halt the "bloody cycle of violence."

The Israeli forces carried out one of the decisions of this meeting on Friday morning as it pulled out from a sector that falls under the Palestinian self- rule authority. This first initiative from the Israeli side came to reduce tension following the speech made by the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon to the Israelis in which he called upon the Israelis to be united and not to loose hope, but without giving them any new initiative to get out of the current crisis.
