Morocco has extended Peru a donation of US$ 100,000 in solidarity with the Latin American country following the fire that ravaged the capital of Lima last December 29, killing and injuring hundreds of people.

A statement of the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation says "as part of good friendship relationships existing between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Peru and following the appeal by president Toledo to friendly countries, head of the American affairs department at the foreign ministry, Ali Achour, has undertaken on January 30 a visit to Lima to hand over the Moroccan government's contribution to the Peruvian government."

The Moroccan official handed over the check to Peruvian acting foreign minister and defense minister, Loret De Mola, who asked him to convey to the Moroccan king, government and people the gratitude of Peru for this solidarity gesture. He also voiced satisfaction at the level of bilateral relations and expressed the Peruvian government's will to further develop the cooperation ties with Morocco in all fields.
