Egypt committed to open market policy encouraging foreign investments
Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid said yesterday that the Egyptian government remained committed to the economic reform programme, open market policy, encouraging foreign investments and creating new jobs for fresh graduates along with upgrading services.
These remarks were made at a meeting with ambassadors and representatives of the donor countries in preparation for the international conference of donor countries, set for February 5-6 in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
Egypt expects to reach agreements at the conference to get some $ 2.5 billion, said Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Fayza Abul Naga who attended the meeting together with the ministers of the economic group.
The required money is the value of the gap in foreign currency revenues as the proceeds from tourism, the Suez Canal and other major economic sectors were largely affected by the September 11 1ncidents.
