Ruler of Bahrain confers with Iraq's foreign minister
The Bahrain's news agency said that Iraq's foreign minister Naji Sabri Ahmad, currently visiting Bahrain met on Tuesday with the ruler of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa al-Khaleifa.
The agency said the two sides discussed relations between the two states and matters that can accelerate the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions especially the Kuwaiti prisoners in Iraq with the aim to lift the embargo and sanctions imposed on Iraq.
The agency added that the Iraqi minister conveyed to Sheikh Hamad a message from the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on bilateral relations and regional and Arab developments.
Baghdad in 2001 appointed a new ambassador in Bahrain who was the first since the invasion of the Iraqi forces to Kuwait in 1990. Bahrain, on the other hand, opened a sea line in 1999 after it was suspended in 1991 because of the sanctions imposed by the UN on Baghdad.
