Indyk, Israel and the Palestinians

The US former under secretary of state Martin Indyk said that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat has been gradually changing into a member outside of the political negotiations team with Israel.

In statements quoted by the Israeli radio on Monday, Indyk proposed that contacts are made under the patronage of the US envoy Anthony Zinni with the Palestinian security department, the side which is responsible for the actual decision on the field.
