Originally published

Nicaragua's new president, Enrique Bolanos Geyer, received on Thursday the Moroccan delegation that represented King Mohammed VI in his oath-taking ceremony.

Led by justice minister, Omar Azziman, the delegation comprises secretary of state for foreign affairs and cooperation, Taieb Fassi Fihri, and Morocco's ambassador in Mexico and Latin America, Youssef Amrani.

Azziman conveyed to the Nicaraguan president a message of esteem and congratulations from the sovereign.

On his part, president Geyer asked the Moroccan delegation to transmit to the sovereign his greetings and thanks for sending a top level delegation to his oath-taking ceremony.

President Geyer, who was elected to his country's presidency last November, had visited Morocco in July 2000 when he was vice-president and signed with Morocco an umbrella agreement and a memorandum of understanding providing for regular political consultation between the two countries' foreign departments.
